The crisis erupted on May 7, 2025, when India launched missile attacks targeting what it described as “terrorist infrastructure” in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, a Himalayan territory divided between the two nations.   Pakistan’s military claims to have shot down five Indian aircraft during the assault, though India has not verified this.
