Samsung Urges Galaxy Users to Turn On New Security Features for Better Protection
Phone theft is still a major problem, especially in big cities worldwide. Even though Google has rolled out stronger anti-theft measures for Android, many people don’t realize these features exist—leaving them unable to remotely lock their phones or protect their data if their device gets stolen.
To help fix this, Samsung is teaming up with the UK Home Office to spread awareness. The company has started sending out security alerts through its Samsung Members app and other channels, reminding Galaxy owners to enable these crucial protections. They’re even putting up ads in busy parts of London to get the word out.
These security tools aren’t brand-new—they’ve already been pushed out to most recent Galaxy models, including the S25, S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. But since not everyone has turned them on, Samsung’s making a big push to encourage users to take a few minutes and activate them.
Some of the key features include:
• Theft Detection Lock – Uses AI to sense if your phone has been snatched and locks it immediately.
• Offline Device Lock – Automatically secures your phone if it stays disconnected from the network too long.
• Remote Lock – Lets you lock your device remotely with just your phone number and a quick verification.
Samsung has also added a few extras for Galaxy users, like Identity Check, which asks for biometric authentication if someone tries changing critical settings in an unfamiliar location, and Security Delay, which forces a one-hour wait before biometrics can be reset—giving you time to track down a lost or stolen phone.
If you haven’t already, it’s worth enabling these features now. A couple of minutes today could save you a lot of trouble later
