President Trump on tariff

 President Donald Trump downplayed concerns that tariffs on Chinese imports could increase prices for American consumers, asserting in an interview that “China probably will eat those tariffs” instead.  


The remarks came during a recent ABC News interview focused on escalating trade tensions, which aired on April 29. ABC News Senior National Correspondent Terry Moran described the 145% tariffs as “basically an embargo” during the exchange.  


Trump maintained his stance that Beijing, rather than U.S. businesses or households, would absorb the financial impact of the punitive trade measures.
